Leadership Team
Our leadership team consists of the Elders and the Pastoral Team and are the key governance and vision team for Ham South. We meet together monthly for prayer, encouragement and updates on the last month. Here we also have a wider financial update.
Sophie
Sophie joined Ham South in July 2023 as our Youth and Young Adults Pastor after finishing her Pastoral Ministry training and Bachelor of Applied Theology at Carey Baptist College in 2022. Sophie coordinates and runs our regular youth and young adults programmes' and her desire is to see the younger generations of Ham South fully integrated in the wider church community.
Sophie is relational through and through. She loves to spend time with her family and friends and is always keen to chat and connect with anyone that she meets.

Mike
Mike is the other of our Interim Pastors. Mike and his family have been a part of the Ham South family for around 20 years now and he is excited to step into a pastoral role here alongside continuing with his work on a dairy farm. Mike's main areas of focus will be preaching and local community engagement.

Lucy
Lucy grew up at Ham South, and completed her Pastoral Ministry training and Bachelor of Applied Theology at Carey Baptist College in 2018, before beginning her role at ham South in 2019. Lucy preaches to equip the congregation, always looking to apply the truth of scripture into the life of the community today. As a part of Ham South's pastoral team, Lucy's role focuses on preaching and various admin tasks. Lucy is married to Josh, and they have two young daughters, Matilda and Phoebe.

Elders
Our elders are the voted members of the church that work with our pastoral team to communicate our vision and keep working towards it with the congregation. Elders are voted in for 2 year terms, and can serve 3 consecutive terms before requiring a years sabbatical. Our current Elders are James Sukias (chairperson), Lois Hanna, Brian Sunderland and John Talsma.
